What to Include in Your Online Listing

Your online listing is a comprehensive, easy to read description of your home, simply fill in the fields on the screen. If you forget something or make a mistake, you can always edit your online listing later.

Some of the information is required and some is optional. There is also a comment box for everything else you want to say.. You may fill out the form and submit it online or you may print it and mail it if you prefer. See our FAQ for Sellers or List Your Home for more information.

Preparing your Home for Pictures

You may upload 6 different interior and exterior pictures to your online listing. Be creative and take enough pictures to ensure that you are fond of at least six of them.

Be sure to read about Curb Appeal in our Tips for Conducting a Successful Open House to help you prepare your home for exterior shots. Suggestions for photographs:

  • Summer exterior pictures are usually more inviting and provide more detail than those taken in the winter.
  • Try not to include automobiles parked in the driveway or along the curb.
  • Close the garage door and roll away any bicycles or portable basketball goals.
  • For interior shots: turn off any florescent lights, as they tend to give everything a green hue when photographed.

Comment Field

This is your chance to be describe the intangible features of your home you feel would attract buyers, such as:

  • What you love about your home (convenient layout for everyday living and entertaining, morning sunlight streaming through windows, mountains or city views
  • What makes your home special (optimal orientation and window placement for plants and summer breezes, kid or adult-friendly)
  • What makes the location of your home desirable (views, quiet or bustling, good qualities of neighborhood schools, friendly neighborhood, nearby cultural facilities, parks, hiking trails)
  • What you think makes your home attractive (classic lines, colors, clean, well-maintained)
  • What makes your lot attractive? (beautiful trees, perennial gardens, healthy lawn, xeriscaping)

Try to avoid using abbreviations- don’t make potential buyers guess what you mean. You have as much space as you need so describe your house as effectively as you can.
